The Palestinian Municipality of Al-Bireh stated that the tear gas canisters fired by the Israeli occupation forces caused a large fire at the Al-Bireh market and commercial complex.

The acting mayor of Al-Bireh, Rubin Al-Khatib, reported in a phone call with "Wafa" that the fire caused flames to ignite in more than 100 shops and stalls in the commercial complex.

He added that the fire also destroyed about 100 stalls selling vegetables, fruits, clothes, shoes, sweets, household items, and more.

He pointed out that the occupation hindered the arrival of civil defense crews to the location for over an hour, which led to the spread of the fire to neighboring buildings and commercial shops.

He noted that the fire caused material losses estimated in tens of millions of shekels.
