Officials in the town of Labrador have asked everyone to evacuate as a nearby wildfire approaches.
In a press release, the Department of Forestry in Newfoundland and Labrador stated that officials observed "extreme fire behavior" today.
The department warns that there is a risk of wildfires moving toward the western Labrador area within 24 to 48 hours, which includes the town of Labrador and the nearby community of Wabush.
The town of Labrador is home to approximately 7,450 people, and the municipality has asked everyone to head east to Happy Valley-Goose Bay, which is a six-hour drive.
In a social media video, the town's mayor, Belinda Adams, urged people to gather their essentials as quickly as possible and evacuate.
The town of Labrador is the second community in Labrador to be evacuated due to wildfires in several months. Residents of Churchill Falls were ordered to leave their homes on June 19.
