The Hebrew media published leaked excerpts of a draft agreement for a potential ceasefire in Lebanon, which includes granting the Israeli army a 60-day period to complete its withdrawal from southern Lebanon.
Hebrew media reported a leak of the draft ceasefire agreement in Lebanon, which may include clauses aimed at calming the situation along the Lebanese-Israeli border. The leak indicates that the agreement includes provisions to reduce military escalation between the two sides, but the specific details regarding the terms have not been fully published.
The Israeli "Channel 13" also revealed "some details of a leaked draft of the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon, which includes granting the Israeli army a 60-day period to complete its withdrawal from southern Lebanon after the agreement comes into effect and both sides commit to implementing Security Council Resolutions 1559 and 1701."
This development comes at a sensitive time as the southern Lebanese border has witnessed increased tensions in recent weeks, coinciding with the escalation of the conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. International parties are working to mediate a halt to the escalation and to avoid the outbreak of a full-scale war in the region.
The agreement is expected to include provisions related to limiting military operations, monitoring the ceasefire, and ensuring that the concerned parties adhere to the new rules, but no official statements regarding this leak have been released to date.
Furthermore, the United States is expected to play a role in supporting the implementation of the agreement, with some reports suggesting possible mediation by elected President Donald Trump. However, the precise details remain unclear as the involved parties continue to discuss the terms of the agreement.
It is noteworthy that the situation on the ground is characterized by the ongoing Israeli military operations in Lebanon, particularly in areas such as the town of Al-Amarrah north of Beirut, where Israeli airstrikes have resulted in the deaths of dozens of civilians.
According to recent leaks, Hebrew media revealed details of the draft ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon, where the document was exchanged among the concerned parties, including the United States. The agreement, which came at a sensitive time of escalation between the Israeli army and Hezbollah, aims to put an end to the hostilities that have resulted in hundreds of casualties and injuries in Lebanon.
Among the key points addressed in the draft is the obligation for the Lebanese army to play a primary role in implementing the agreement in border areas with Israel, especially in southern Lebanon. The document also includes a clause that guarantees Israel's right to defend itself against any threats from Hezbollah or any armed groups, if the Lebanese government does not take concrete measures to control the situation.
Reaching this agreement at this stage could be an important step toward reducing military escalation, despite concerns that it may be violated by the conflicting parties if monitoring and implementation on the ground are not improved.
