Ottawa – Arab Canada News

The Conservative Party of Canada has introduced a new amendment to its English version of the election platform, which includes a clear commitment to combating what it described as "woke ideologies," in the party's latest move led by Pierre Poilievre to attract conservative voters through a discourse focused on traditional values.

The updated party platform states: "Conservatives will protect free speech from woke agendas and restore balance to our national institutions that have been taken over by a woke elite imposing divisive policies on Canadians."

The new commitment includes opposing what the party considers to be "extreme identity politics" in schools, the bureaucracy, and public culture, and it indicates the party's intention to support "community organizations that respect Canadian traditions and reject imposed ideologies."

This step reflects a significant escalation in the conservatives' rhetoric, especially in English, as a similar formulation has not yet been included in the French version of the platform, raising wide controversy over the linguistic and political balance in the campaign content.

Observers believe that Poilievre aims through this commitment to enhance his popularity among his voter base, particularly in rural and suburban areas, where issues related to individual freedom and cultural identity resonate strongly.

This provision is expected to be a topic of discussion among the parties during the final days of the election campaign leading up to the federal voting day on April 28.
