The protesters returned to Memorial University in St. John's, New Delhi, on Monday, days after police dismantled a pro-Palestinian camp on campus and arrested three students.

The university's spokesperson, Chad Bailey, said the students organized a protest in the morning but did not set up a new camp, adding that no protesters had slept on campus since Friday, when they were forcibly removed.

The protesters had camped on campus for 45 days demanding Memorial University disclose its divestments from "arms manufacturing, apartheid, and genocide."

Memorial University states that its operation to remove the protesters was based on a ruling from the Ontario Superior Court issued on July 2, which ordered the dismantling of a pro-Palestinian camp on the University of Toronto campus.

Memorial explained in a press release that the precedents of other Canadian courts are "relevant" and are used when legal cases are similar.

The protesting students stated in a message that the university's actions to dismantle the camp last week were "chaotic and disorganized and showed a complete disregard for safety."
