The Government of Quebec has announced a temporary freeze on the Temporary Foreign Worker Program for six months in the Montreal area.
This temporary freeze is scheduled to take effect on September 3rd and is only applicable to foreign temporary workers who wish to settle in the Montreal area through the program managed by Quebec.
It is worth noting that at the end of 2023, their percentage in Montreal was 20% of about 59,820 beneficiaries of this program, and the freeze only pertains to employees whose salaries are below $57,000 annually, with exceptions for essential sectors such as health, education, construction, agriculture, and food manufacturing.
