Nova Scotia declared a state of emergency after being hit by a severe snowstorm; 100 cm of snow fell in areas of the province, resulting in some cities being buried in snow, as happened in the city of Cape Breton, where residents are awaiting rescue.

Some residents mentioned that they are forced to stay in their homes as they cannot open the door; the snow has even reached the windows, and everything surrounding their houses is buried under piles of snow. The residents are calling for help and requesting rescue for fear of being buried in their homes.

Residents also demanded the urgent deployment of snowplows, as the snow is very deep and requires intervention with different machinery.

Some indicated that they are still stranded, waiting for someone to reach them and rescue them.

It is worth noting that 100 cm of snow fell at Sydney Airport and many different areas across the province,
making this the worst weather in the last twenty years.

The Cape Breton Regional Municipality, which was forced to declare a state of emergency, also stated that the emergency would continue for seven days, renewable if bad weather persists.
