The Progressive Conservative Party, led by Tim Houston, achieved a second consecutive victory with a majority government in Nova Scotia, reflecting its success in the 2021 elections.
This victory is noteworthy as the New Democratic Party (NDP) will form the official opposition for the first time since 2013.
Houston's victory is attributed to his campaign focusing on healthcare issues, including reducing waiting times for doctors and increasing the number of long-term care beds.
The Conservatives secured 31 out of 55 seats in the legislature, a significant achievement despite strong competition from the Liberal Party and the NDP.
Although the New Democratic Party did not achieve a significant increase in the number of seats, it successfully retained the major urban riding and gained momentum in Halifax, where affordable housing and rent control were the focus of its campaign.
