Hundreds of Palestinians displaced today, Sunday, from the northern neighborhoods of Khan Younis city in southern Gaza Strip, where the occupation army issued evacuation orders in preparation for new military operations.
On Sunday morning, Israeli warplanes dropped leaflets urging civilians in Gaza to leave the Al-Jalaa neighborhood in Khan Younis, which was considered a safe area, in addition to the army sending text messages to residents, prompting many families to leave, although they had already been displaced several times due to the continuous shelling of the Gaza Strip since October 7, according to the French Press Agency.
Families quickly left the Al-Jalaa neighborhood with some of their belongings, either on foot or in small trucks loaded with clothing or kitchen utensils.
Among them was Um Sami Shahada (55 years old) who told AFP: “I am originally from Gaza and I displaced from Gaza at the start of the war to Hamad residential city in Khan Younis (where) we were bombed by the occupation (...) and my daughter was martyred.”
She added: “We went to Rafah, then we returned to (the city of) Hamad (...) and now with the new evacuations, we don’t know where to go.”
The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) Philippe Lazzarini wrote on X platform: “In just the last few days, more than 75,000 people have been displaced in the southwest Gaza Strip.”
He added: “The people of Gaza are besieged and have nowhere to go,” continuing: “Some can only bring their children with them, while others gather their entire lives in a small bag.”
