The Democratic candidate for the U.S. presidential election, Kamala Harris, urged Democrats on Monday to head to the polls and vote for her in the race for the White House.
At a rally, Harris said: "Let's vote, let's go to the polls, let's win, 24 hours separate us from the finish line (...) either we succeed together or we fail together."
Harris added, "We are a campaign that is based on the people and we see that in our partners and neighbors (...) we must focus on common points and reject divisions in American society."
Polls show a tight race as Harris, 60, Vice President Joe Biden's running mate, receives strong support from women, while former President Trump, 78, has backing among Latino voters, particularly men.
A Reuters/Ipsos poll showed that overall voters do not prefer either candidate, but that does not discourage them from casting their votes.
The Election Lab at the University of Florida revealed that about 76 million Americans have already cast their votes, which is nearly half of the total votes cast in 2020, which amounted to 160 million. That year witnessed the highest turnout in over a century.
