The remnants of Tropical Storm Debbie, merging with another low-pressure system over the Great Lakes, could bring up to 100 mm of rain to parts of Eastern Canada today, Friday.
The system is moving through Southern Ontario and Quebec today, prompting Environment Canada to issue alerts and warnings for communities from Cornwall, Ontario, through Quebec City regarding the risk of flash floods.
The agency also warned of the possibility of minor landslides.
Ottawa is expected to be particularly affected by this storm system, with rainfall expected to range from 50 to 75 mm throughout Friday.
In Toronto, about 30 mm of rain is expected during the morning and afternoon.
The remnants of Debbie are expected to reach New Brunswick on Friday night, bringing up to 40 mm of rain by tomorrow morning, Saturday.
