Bananas are among the fruits beneficial to human health, containing many essential nutrients for the body, but does consuming them after meals lead to weight gain?
In this regard, Dr. Bahaa Nagy, a clinical nutrition consultant, stated that there is no objection to including bananas in the daily diet while dieting, but they should be consumed in moderation.
Nagy added that consuming bananas in large quantities may lead to weight gain due to their high caloric content and high sugar levels, which the body may convert into fats if it exceeds the permissible limit.
The clinical nutrition consultant explained that moderation in banana consumption may help the body lose excess weight, due to their richness in dietary fiber, which contributes to controlling appetite by keeping the stomach full for long hours.
He confirmed that eating fruits, especially bananas, immediately after meals is a bad dietary habit that should be avoided, as it leads to weight gain and the occurrence of some digestive disorders, such as indigestion, constipation, and bloating.
According to the "Healthifyme" website, it is recommended to eat bananas during dieting in the morning, before exercising, after finishing the workout, or as a snack in the middle of the day, to ensure benefiting from their high nutritional value without gaining weight.
