The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) announced that talks regarding a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip have reached their final stages, noting that progress on this file has reached around 90%.

A senior official in the movement, in press statements, said that regional and international efforts led by Egypt and Qatar, in cooperation with the United Nations, have resulted in significant progress towards reaching a comprehensive ceasefire agreement. He emphasized that the current focus is on finalizing the agreement, including the details of its implementation mechanism and ensuring its sustainability.

The official clarified that the agreement includes several key provisions, including halting the Israeli aggression on the sector, easing the blockade imposed for years, and facilitating the entry of humanitarian aid and essential materials into Gaza. He also mentioned that there is a preliminary consensus regarding the release of a number of Palestinian prisoners in exchange for a Palestinian commitment to ensure calm.

In contrast, no official comment has been issued by the Israeli side regarding the progress of the talks, while sources indicate that mediations are working to reduce tensions between the two parties following a long period of escalation.

In turn, several international parties welcomed the progress made, calling for the necessity of adhering to the agreement once signed, to ensure the cessation of bloodshed and achieve stability in the region.

This announcement comes amid difficult humanitarian conditions faced by the residents of the Gaza Strip as a result of the recent escalation, where attacks have exacerbated the humanitarian crisis and increased the suffering of families who are experiencing severe shortages of essential services.

Hamas reaffirmed in conclusion of its statements that it is committed to its role in protecting the rights of the Palestinian people, but it will not accept any solutions that do not meet their legitimate aspirations.
