Gallant: The decision to move to war with Lebanon could come at any moment, and the attack will be swift, sudden, and very intense.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said on Wednesday that the Israeli army is prepared to launch a surprise and rapid attack on Lebanon at any moment.
According to Hebrew media, Gallant indicated on Wednesday during his visit to the army forces on the northern front the possibility of transitioning to war with "Hezbollah" in Lebanon in a "rapid, sudden, and very intense" manner.
Gallant added: "We are waging a limited war in the north with Lebanon, using a small part of the Israeli army's strength, but things can change in an instant, from a major effort in the Gaza Strip to a major effort in the north with the Lebanese front, and this step will be very swift, sudden, and intense."
He continued: "We are nearing a decision and will know how to proceed on the path that will ensure the security of the northern residents near the Lebanese border."
During Gallant's tour, army leaders presented an overview of the situation on the border with Lebanon and developments in the fighting against "Hezbollah," according to Israel's Channel 12.
It is worth noting that several Israeli officials have hinted more than once at the possibility of a war with "Hezbollah" in light of the unprecedented escalation occurring at the border with Lebanon.
Since October 8, the southern Lebanon front has witnessed exchanges of shelling between the Israeli army and Hezbollah, which announced that the Lebanon front is a "supporting front" for Gaza. Hezbollah has repeatedly stated that a ceasefire in the
Gaza Strip will automatically apply to the southern Lebanon front.
In this regard, the Secretary-General of the party, Hassan Nasrallah, said that "reaching an agreement that immediately ends the attacks from southern Lebanon" is necessary. He added that "Hamas negotiates for itself and on behalf of the Palestinian factions and also on behalf of the entire axis of resistance. What Hamas accepts, we all accept and are satisfied with."
