Byng Island Reserve is a beautiful destination for a day trip this summer, and there are countless outdoor activities you can participate in.

The island is also home to the largest outdoor swimming pool in Canada. The 190-hectare island is located in Dunnville, Ontario, about a 1.5-hour drive from Toronto, and features unique lush forests, winding rivers, marshes, and streams.

You can go fishing, boating, or paddling on the Grand River and reach Lake Erie, and if you don’t have your own equipment, you can rent boats directly from the park.

There are also camping sites if you want to extend your stay on the island.

But the main attraction of the park during the summer months is the giant outdoor pool, which covers an area of two acres and can accommodate up to 1,000 people.

It also has a dedicated children's area at its beginning, as well as a full deep end with a diving board, and the area surrounding the pool has volleyball courts and picnic areas to take a break when you're not in the water.

The pool is open daily until September 4, except it closes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and wearing identification bracelets is required to enter the pool for a nominal fee of $2.50 per person.

Also, if you don’t want to go far from your home, all of Toronto's approximately 58 public pools are now open for the summer season, or you can head to one of the city’s beaches to beat the heat.
