Tel Aviv witnessed a massive explosion early this Friday morning local time, and the Houthi group later announced its responsibility for the explosion that occurred early in a building in Tel Aviv.

According to "Reuters," the military spokesperson of the Houthi Yemeni group, Yahya Saree, announced on X platform that "the qualitative operation whose details will be announced targeted Tel Aviv in occupied Palestine."

The Israeli army had said earlier today that it was investigating whether an explosion that occurred in central Tel Aviv in the early hours of Friday was the result of a drone attack, but it did not trigger sirens.

The explosion occurred hours after the Israeli army confirmed it had killed a senior Hezbollah commander.

The army stated in a statement, "The preliminary investigation indicates that the explosion in Tel Aviv resulted from a falling aerial target, and no sirens were activated. The incident is under thorough investigation."

It added that it has increased the number of air patrols to protect Israeli airspace without ordering new civil defense measures.

Police revealed the discovery of a man's body in an apartment near the explosion site, stating that it is investigating the circumstances.

Footage from the scene showed shattered glass scattered on the sidewalks while crowds gathered around the site near a building marked by an explosion, which the police cordoned off with tape.

In a related context, a "Sky News Arabia" reporter in Jerusalem quoted the American army as saying that it had "intercepted four drones that were headed for Israel."
