The Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi called the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, where he congratulated President Erdoğan on his victory in the presidential elections and his re-election as the President of Turkey for a new presidential term. For his part, the Turkish President expressed appreciation for this kind gesture from President el-Sisi.
The Egyptian Presidency stated that President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdoğan decided during a phone call to immediately begin upgrading diplomatic relations between the two countries and exchange ambassadors.
The official spokesperson of the Egyptian Presidency, Ahmed Fahmy, stated that the two presidents confirmed the depth of the historical ties that bind the two countries and the Egyptian and Turkish peoples. They agreed to strengthen the bonds of relations and cooperation between the two sides. In this context, the two presidents decided to immediately begin upgrading diplomatic relations between the two countries and exchange ambassadors.
