The man who launched the first store in Canada selling all toxic substances, including meth, cocaine, and heroin, lost his life due to an overdose.
After a few days of being taken to the hospital due to an overdose of fentanyl, Jerry Martin died in his store in Vancouver on Friday.
Although he was initially able to fight the overdose, no part of Martin's body responded, and eventually, his family decided to take him off life support.
In May, Martin had founded the first brick-and-mortar drug store in Canada alongside the United States, where the store sells only tested drugs to ensure that none of these substances contain fentanyl or any other harmful mixed substances.
During the launch of his store, Martin said that although he sells drugs, they are safer than the market, and his partner Krista Thomas said that Martin wanted to save people from consuming harmful substances.
Martin had also said in a previous interview that he spent most of his youth homeless and was addicted to cocaine, and Thomas explained that he believed people could cure themselves of addiction, and to do that, they needed some kind of safe supply.
She added that he was no different from anyone else on this planet, and like anyone else, he struggled with his addiction and unfortunately, relapsed.
Thomas also said she was not sure whether Martin took fentanyl intentionally, but she confirmed that he was not using opioids.
