More than 460,000 people were affected by the heavy rains that fell this month in Sichuan Province in southwest China, according to the Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters in the province on Tuesday.
More than 85,000 residents of the province were evacuated to safe places as a precautionary measure, and no human losses were reported, while more than 460,000 people were affected.
To protect people's lives in the face of heavy rainfall, the Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters sent early warnings to the public via social media platforms and its website, and the headquarters enhanced measures for patrol work and real-time monitoring of rainfall, especially in areas prone to rainstorm and mountain flood risks.
Earlier, Sichuan Province issued the first yellow warning this year to confront sudden floods, which included 26 county-level areas.
China has a severe weather warning system composed of four color-coded levels, where red represents the most severe, followed by orange, then yellow, and blue.
