In the study compiled by Cabin Crew HQ, Toronto Pearson Airport was the only Canadian port to appear on the list, ranking 29th among the top 30 airports worldwide.
The airports were ranked according to the annual number of passengers, the average percentage of on-time arrivals and departures, parking fees and service costs, and the number of restaurants and shops available to travelers.
Although it made the list, Pearson Airport failed to secure a place among the top 10 airports and certainly lagged in some areas.
The airport declined in terms of the average percentage of on-time arrivals and departures at 55.9 percent, with Frankfurt Flughafen Airport in Germany being the only one to score lower in this area.
According to the latest data from Pearson Airport on July 3, the average percentage of on-time arrivals and departures dropped to 53 percent this week, after a four-week average of about 57 percent.
Last year, Pearson was rated as the worst airport in the world in terms of delays.
For the remaining categories, Pearson ranked in the middle of the group regarding parking costs, service charges, and the number of restaurants and stores available at the airport to choose from.
Fortunately, the lost luggage category was not among those examined in the study, as Pearson has become known for the phenomenon of lost luggage over the past two years due to the increase in passenger numbers after the pandemic-imposed closure and weather-related problems during the winter season.
The top 10 airports in the world are:
Tokyo International Airport (Haneda) in Japan
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in the United States
O'Hare International Airport in the United States
Mexico City International Airport in Mexico
Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport in the United States
George Bush Intercontinental Airport in the United States
Indira Gandhi International Airport in India
Denver International Airport in the United States
Istanbul International Airport in Turkey
Charlotte Douglas International Airport in the United States
However, a separate ranking announced earlier this year stated that Vancouver International Airport is the best in Canada, surpassing Pearson Airport in many areas.
