Canada, Britain, and Australia called on the Israeli government to retract its decision to approve the construction of new settlement units in the West Bank.

The Israeli occupation authorities had approved on Monday, June 26, the construction of 5,623 new settlement units in the occupied West Bank.

The foreign ministers of Britain, Australia, and Canada said in a joint statement published by "Reuters" that "the continuous expansion of settlements constitutes an obstacle to peace and negatively affects efforts to achieve a two-state solution through negotiation. We call on the Israeli government to retract these decisions."

In June, the Israeli government also approved granting the racist Israeli minister Smotrich the authority for preliminary approval of any settlement construction plans and reducing procedures for deepening and expanding settlement in the occupied Palestinian territory.
