Canada intends to issue a new entry visa that qualifies its holder to immigrate and move to Canada and live there fully. The Canadian authorities derived this proposed idea from the period of the Coronavirus pandemic, which led to drastic and significant changes worldwide, including transformations in various labor markets.

New Visa

According to a report published by the British newspaper (METRO), the Canadian authorities plan to introduce a special visa for mobile people, i.e., those who work in a permanent job but remotely, a method of working that has become widespread worldwide during the "Corona" period, where these people do not need to commit to being present in their offices despite working full time in a specific job.

This visa allows its holder to move to Canada and live there, provided that they have a permanent job in a foreign company based outside of Canada, and the job they perform is carried out under the "remote work" system.

Not the Only One

The British newspaper report explains that Canada is not the first country to adopt this system, nor is it the only one in the world, as this visa exists in Spain and Italy and aims to attract those who want to live there while staying and holding on to remote work in their jobs.

Details of the specific Canadian plan have not yet been disclosed, including which professions qualify for this visa.

In Italy, for example, there is an entry visa called (nomadi digitali) which is dedicated to those "who carry out highly qualified work activities through the use of technological tools... by working remotely or independently or for a company not residing in the territory of the Italian state."

The idea behind this type of visa indicates encouraging remote workers to move to Canada, where they can experience living there, and if they wish, they may decide to stay there permanently.

All of this is part of the country's attempt to target workers in the technology field and to become a global leader in this field.
