Pierre Poilievre, leader of the Canadian Conservative Party, announced his three demands for budget reform and the relief that Canadians desperately need, saying in a statement received by Arab Canada News:
"Justin Trudeau does not care about the cost. His government has doubled rents, mortgage payments, and down payments.
The record deficit plaguing the economy has led to sky-high interest rates.
Food banks received a record two million visits in one month last year, with an expected additional one million people in 2024." While life is getting worse for Canadians, Trudeau is spending more than ever.
This year, Canada will spend $46.5 billion servicing Trudeau’s debts. This is more than just federal health transfers.
"Both the Bank of Canada and former Liberal Finance Minister John Manley told Trudeau he was pressing the inflationary gas pedal with his spending that led to interest rate inflation. But Trudeau did not listen.
As a result, the Bank of Canada has conducted the most aggressive interest rate hike campaign in its history. As millions of Canadians renewing their mortgages know, Trudeau does not care about this cost.
Explaining, “Struggling families cannot afford high taxes and more inflationary spending that leads to higher costs for everything and keeps interest rates high.”
Adding, this is why sane Conservatives sent a message to Justin Trudeau with three demands for budget reform:
First: Repeal the tax imposed on farmers and food by immediately passing Bill C-234 in its original form.
Second: Allow housing to be built, not bureaucracy, by requiring municipalities to permit 15% more housing construction each year as a condition for receiving federal infrastructure funds.
Third: Set a spending cap with a dollar-for-dollar base to reduce interest rates and inflation.
Fourth: The government must find a dollar in savings for every new dollar it spends.
Explaining that sane Conservatives will not support the budget unless Trudeau’s food tax is repealed, housing is built not bureaucracy, and spending limits are set."
