A jury in Montreal found a 38-year-old woman guilty of first-degree murder in the horrific torture and killing of a young man in Lachine in 2021.
The jurors delivered the verdict yesterday, Saturday, after five days of deliberation.
27-year-old Jimmy Methot was at a party with friends in an apartment on Rathwell Street in Lachine, but the tenant, Véronique Manso, was using cocaine, became paranoid, accused him
of spying for her ex-husband, and repeatedly assaulted him, forcing him to drink a flammable liquid, and then stabbed him multiple times. Police later found the victim's mutilated body in a barrel in a nearby garage.
Manso was sentenced to life in prison with no possibility of parole for 25 years.
