The statement clarified that the meeting, which took place at the headquarters of the Council of the Nation with the presence of a delegation from the council and the accompanying delegation of the Speaker of the House of Commons of Canada, was an opportunity to review the reality and prospects of the friendship relations that bind Algeria and Canada and the ways to activate them through intensifying exchanges and visits and strengthening the ties of cooperation and coordination, especially in the parliamentary aspect.

It is worth noting that the Canadian and Algerian governments have strong relations over the past six decades since Algeria's independence from French colonization.
