The Global Central Kitchen intends to resume its operations in the Gaza Strip on Monday, after a four-week suspension following the killing of seven of its relief workers, including a Canadian, in Israeli airstrikes.

The organization halted food deliveries in the area after the attack on three vehicles belonging to the Global Central Kitchen, which were full of food from a nearby warehouse.

The relief organization stated that the vehicles were clearly marked and that their movements were known to the Israeli army when they were targeted.

Jacob Fleckinger, a 33-year-old former military member from Quebec, was killed along with six of his colleagues.

Israel accepted responsibility and said the strikes were unintentional, vowing to change its rules accordingly.

The relief organization clarified that it plans to resume its operations to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, but reiterates its calls for an independent investigation into the killing of its workers.
