A video published by Iranian media today, Monday, showed a woman standing on top of a police vehicle, completely naked in the city of Mashhad, known for its religious nature due to the presence of several Shiite shrines and sites, most notably that of Imam Ali ibn Musa al-Ridha.

Several people who circulated the video mentioned that the woman took off her clothes in the street, and when a police car stopped her, she climbed on it and sat down, according to what was reported by the "Al-Hurra" channel.

Iranian human rights advocate Shafaa Mahbubi commented on the incident, stating that it is one of the forms of protest against the compulsory hijab laws in the Islamic Republic, adding: "In rejection of the mandatory hijab, this young woman bravely sat on the back of the police car."

Meanwhile, the husband of the woman who appeared in the video said that his wife has a history of mental illness, calling for accountability for those responsible for sharing the video on social media.

He expressed his gratitude to the police for their treatment, which he described as "patient and respectful" towards his wife, according to the Iranian opposition channel "Atagh Khabar," citing a source it described as official.

Three months ago, a similar incident occurred at the Islamic Azad University in the capital Tehran, where a student removed her clothes and stayed in her underwear near the university building.

At that time, security forces arrested the girl, who suffered a violent physical assault, as her head collided either with the door of a car or with one of the poles, causing severe bleeding.

The London-based "Iran International" channel reported that "bloodstains from the student were seen on the car's tires," as the authorities had placed the student in a mental health hospital, which sparked human rights criticism in Iran.
