Quebec faces a cold weather wave and power outage affecting thousands of homes

Many areas in the Quebec province witnessed today, Thursday, April 4, strong winds carrying snow, with severe weather fluctuations, resulting in power outages for thousands of homes 
Hydro-Quebec company noted in several places, power lines were disrupted due to the winds affecting the electricity for 286,722 households due to "broken trees," adding: “We are mobilizing all available crews to restore service as soon as possible."

According to Hydro-Quebec, the power was cut off for 286,722 households until 6:50 AM.

The most affected areas are Montreal with about (96,163 clients), Laurentians about (83,838 clients), Montérégie about (32,268 clients).

The electricity company emphasized that “For public safety, it is important that people do not approach power lines, and if you see electrical wires on the ground, please do not approach the area and call 911 to secure the area.

Meteorological experts say that Montreal may witness up to 20 cm of snow by the end of the low-pressure system.

Melting is expected to begin in the coming days, as forecasts indicate warmer weather by the end of the week.

Montreal usually experiences about 13 cm of snow during the month, and the largest snowfall in one day was 33.9 cm on April 9, 2000.
