Toronto is experiencing today, Thursday, a cold wave which is the worst, as precipitation is expected to turn into snow with a drop in temperatures.
Although heavy rainfalls occur at times throughout the day, the expected snowfall will not be large in quantity, according to the Canadian Environment Agency
Toronto can also expect about 2 cm of snow later today as temperatures drop to a low of -1 degrees Celsius.
The drop in temperature and snowfall may cause traffic problems, said Frank Siglenix, a meteorology expert at the University of Waterloo, during press statements.
The winds, which reached speeds of 80 km/h earlier today, are expected to calm down by evening.
Meanwhile, the Toronto Police Department warned residents to stay away from rivers, streams, and beaches prone
to flooding.
Rainfall is likely to continue until the end of the week, with sunny weather on Saturday.
Siglenix said: Winter storms and snow accumulation can definitely still occur in April and even late April.
