Adnan Abu Hasna, the spokesperson for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), expressed his disappointment regarding the ongoing Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip, stating: "We had hoped to witness a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip on the Day of Arafah and Eid to alleviate the suffering... but unfortunately, the situation is getting worse and deteriorating."

He added during statements to the "90 Minutes" program, broadcast on "Al-Mahwar" channel on Friday evening, that the volume of aid entering the Gaza Strip does not exceed 5 to 7% of the needs of the population of the area, pointing out that the bigger problem lies in the health situations that are suffering from a significant collapse due to polluted water.

He continued: "All residents of the Gaza Strip are now drinking contaminated water, after sewage water infiltrated the aquifer, as it is not treated due to the destruction of power stations, in addition to the fact that water desalination plants are only operating at about 10% capacity."

He explained that this has led to the spread of tens of thousands of patients suffering from hepatitis, meningitis, and intestinal and respiratory infections, adding: "We fear the spread of cholera, as all conditions are conducive to the spread of this epidemic."

He concluded by expressing his regret over the famine moving from the northern Gaza Strip to the south, where about 75% of the population, totaling 1.8 million people, reside.
