The Toronto Police announced that arrests will be made in the coming days regarding the gold theft incident at Toronto Pearson International Airport one year ago.

The theft occurred on April 17, 2023, and involved the theft of a shipping container transported by Air Canada.

Police have not released many details regarding the circumstances surrounding the theft since then.

However, the lawsuit filed by Brink against Air Canada sheds some light on what is alleged to have happened.

In its claim statement, Brink stated that an unidentified person was able to access Air Canada's cargo warehouse after presenting fake documents about 40 minutes after the aircraft carrying the goods first landed.

The claim statement, filed on October 6, 2023, also mentioned that employees subsequently handed over more than $2 million and 400 kilograms of gold bars—currently valued at approximately $21.1 million—to the alleged thief.

The police stated in a press release yesterday, Tuesday, that investigators will announce details and arrests related to the investigation named Project 24 at a press conference this morning, Wednesday.
