Toronto police said that a pedestrian who was hit by a car in the heart of downtown yesterday morning Friday has died in the hospital.
The incident happened near Bay and College streets shortly before noon.
Police reported that the victim, an 80-year-old woman, was in a crosswalk when she was hit by a car that had just turned onto Westbound College Street from Bay Street.
They explained that the car was driven by another 80-year-old woman. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital in critical condition but died shortly after from her injuries.
In a press statement issued on Friday afternoon, the police said that traffic services unit officers continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident and are asking local residents, businesses, and drivers who may have security footage or surveillance cameras of the area or the accident to contact investigators.
