French President Emmanuel Macron announced that his country will build new nuclear reactors to reduce its dependence on foreign countries for energy supplies, at a time when Europe is facing rising gas and electricity bills.
In a speech directed to the French people via television, Macron said he wants France to accelerate the manufacturing of key technological components within the country, to reduce its reliance on counterparts from the United States and Asia.
