There is a renewed resumption of the investigation concerning a teenage girl from Northern Ontario who was killed in her home more than three decades ago.

The province announced a reward of $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who killed 15-year-old Katherine Joan, 32 years after her death.

Joan was found dead in her home on Adjala Street in Manitouwadge, about 200 kilometers north of Wawa, shortly after 9 p.m.

On July 8, 1990, the Ontario Provincial Police said in a Thursday morning press release that initially, a murder was not suspected, but the OPP stated "the case has been treated as an ongoing and active homicide investigation as a result of further information received by the police at different times over the intervening years."

Daryl Séguin said: "I am confident that there are people who have information that can identify those responsible for the murder of Katherine Joan."

Séguin added in a press release: "A thorough investigation will be conducted. We want to bring closure to Katherine's family and ensure that those who committed this crime will pose no further threat to anyone in our community."

Anyone with information is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
