King Abdullah II and Erdogan discuss rallying international stance against Israeli violations

Jordanian King Abdullah II emphasized to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan the necessity of rallying an international stance against Israel's violations in Jerusalem, affirming that what is happening is "an assault on all Muslims."

According to a statement from the Jordanian Royal Court following the phone call between the two sides: "King Abdullah II confirmed that the Israeli authorities' disregard for international calls to stop violations against the Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalemites is a challenge and a violation of international humanitarian law."

The two leaders stressed "the necessity for the international community to bear its responsibilities in confronting the illegal practices and serious Israeli provocations in Jerusalem."

The Jordanian monarch pointed out "the need to continue close coordination between the two countries to put an end to the attacks carried out by the Israeli authorities in East Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque."

The call also addressed the steps Jordan is taking "to rally an effective and pressing Arab, Islamic, and international stance to confront what Israel is committing in violations in Jerusalem Al-Sharif, in addition to the Kingdom's support to consolidate the steadfastness of the Jerusalemites on their land and in their homes and protect their rights."

King Abdullah confirmed the Kingdom's continuation of exerting all efforts to protect Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, based on the Hashemite custodianship over them.

It is worth noting that Israeli forces stormed the courtyards of Al-Aqsa on Monday morning using rubber bullets, sound bombs, and gas, before withdrawing, leaving more than 334 injuries among Palestinians including paramedics, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent.

Since the beginning of Ramadan, the city of Jerusalem has witnessed confrontations between Israeli police and settlers on one side, and Palestinians in the Bab Al-Amoud area, Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, and the surroundings of Al-Aqsa Mosque on the other.
