The New Brunswick Police say that a man from Saint John died in an incident Saturday afternoon in the middle of "Loch Alva" lake near Musquash.

"RCMP Cpl." Julie Rogers Marsh described the incident as a "sudden death" after the man fell from a boat into the water.

She said another angler at the scene tried to get the man back onto the boat but was unsuccessful. Rogers Marsh said on Sunday: "A 45-year-old man from Saint John was transported to hospital where he was later pronounced dead."

"Another man, who jumped in an attempt to save the 45-year-old man, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries."

In a statement late Saturday, the Musquash Fire Department said it received a 911 call for medical assistance at Loch Alva dam at 4:08 p.m. on Saturday.

The department said cardiopulmonary resuscitation was performed on one angler who did not respond, and that another angler was suffering from hypothermia. New Brunswick Police said an autopsy will be conducted next week to determine the exact cause of death of the 45-year-old man.
