Agencies: Dr. Mahmoud Alam El Din, spokesperson for Cairo University, emphasized the necessity for students to receive the COVID-19 vaccines to be allowed entry to the university, saying: "According to the decision of the Supreme Council of Universities, no student without vaccination is allowed to enter starting from November 15th."

Alam El Din added, in a phone interview on the program "Today" presented by media personality Sara Hazem, on the dmc channel, that anyone without a COVID-19 vaccine at the university, whether staff, faculty members, or students, will have to conduct a weekly PCR test at their own expense to ensure they are not infected with the coronavirus and present a test certificate similar to the paper vaccination certificate or through the electronic application.

The spokesperson for Cairo University continued that conducting PCR tests will be mandatory for those unwilling to receive the vaccine, adding: "It is unfortunate that some students are not convinced of the importance of COVID-19 vaccines."

Yesterday, the Supreme Council of Universities held its regular meeting, chaired by Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, on Sunday morning, October 24, at Ain Shams University, in the presence of Dr. Mohamed Latif, Council Secretary, and council members. The Minister of Higher Education directed the continuation of daily monitoring of the vaccination process for all elements of the educational system against the coronavirus, in implementation of President El-Sisi’s directives and the decisions of the Crisis Committee chaired by Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, to limit the spread of coronavirus in universities, with universities reviewing and auditing students' vaccination status starting November 1st. He stressed that students are not allowed to enter the campus after November 15th except after presenting a certificate proving vaccination; and if the student is not vaccinated, they can conduct a weekly PCR test.

The minister confirmed full adherence to the decisions of the Crisis Committee regarding not allowing state institution employees to enter their premises from November 15th unless they have been vaccinated against the coronavirus.

The minister stressed the necessity for universities to continue applying all precautionary measures, adhering to social distancing for everyone present inside the university campus, as well as intensifying the sterilization and disinfection of lecture halls, classrooms, laboratories, and various faculty buildings; and applying the same measures in university dormitories to ensure the safety of all elements of the educational system.
