Live images broadcast by Chinese television showed the return of the "Chang'e-6" probe to Earth, carrying the first rock samples from the far side of the moon.
The probe landed in the grasslands of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in northern China this Tuesday afternoon local time.
The mission represents an achievement for China's ambitious space program, as it is the first time samples of soil and rock have been transported from the far side of the moon to Earth.
