An arrest warrant has been issued for Yassine Zouaoui, a 32-year-old who escaped from the minimum-security federal training center in Laval last Thursday evening.
According to the Canadian Correctional Service (CSC), Zouaoui's disappearance was discovered at 10:45 PM, and officials contacted both Laval Police (SPL) and Quebec Provincial Police (SQ).
Zouaoui is described as being 185 cm (6 feet 1 inch) tall and weighing 84 kg (186 lbs), with brown eyes and brown hair, and notable tattoos including a teardrop under his left eye and three dots on his left hand; he speaks English.
The Canadian Correctional Service stated yesterday, Friday: "The inmate is currently serving an indeterminate sentence for a charge of aggravated assault causing bodily harm and second-degree murder."
Anyone with information regarding Zouaoui's whereabouts is asked to contact the Quebec Police.
The Canadian Correctional Service confirmed that it is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and is working with the police to locate Zouaoui as quickly as possible.
