Environment Canada said that a warning for rainfall amounts ranging from 50 to 75 mm is in effect in Eastern Ontario and Ottawa starting today, Thursday.
The weather agency warns of heavy rain at times, continuing until tomorrow, Friday.
A low-pressure system interacting with the remnants of Tropical Storm Debbie is expected to bring heavy rain to Eastern Ontario tonight and into Friday. The weather agency states on its website: "The rain will stop Friday night."
Residents are asked to stay informed about flooding information by consulting their local conservation authority or the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry by visiting the following site: Ontario.ca/floods.
Tropical Storm Debbie continued to swirl over Georgia and the Carolinas on Wednesday. Some coastal cities received over 30 cm of rain.
Sunny weather is expected on Thursday morning in Ottawa. The temperature is expected to reach 24 degrees Celsius - humidex 30 - with increasing cloudiness early this afternoon. Rain is expected to start in the evening, with a risk of thunderstorms overnight and late in the evening.
The temperature in the capital is expected to drop to 17 degrees Celsius and receive 15 to 25 mm of rain tonight, according to Environment Canada.

Rainfall of 50 mm is expected in Ottawa. The temperature is expected to drop to 17 degrees Celsius with rain overnight, and Saturday is expected to be sunny with a high of 25 degrees Celsius, with rain expected on Sunday and Monday.
