The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Monday that the army commander, Lieutenant General Abdul Fattah al-Burhan, has ordered the dissolution of the Rapid Support Forces and declared them a rebel force.
This comes following a power struggle that has lasted for days and resulted in the death of 97 civilians after clashes broke out between the army and the paramilitary forces across the country.
The statement also mentioned that all national, regional, and international mediations aimed at convincing the leadership of the Rapid Support Forces to integrate into the armed forces have failed due to the stubbornness of its leaders.
The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that what is happening is an internal matter that should be left to the Sudanese people to achieve the required settlement among themselves away from international interventions.
