Three Taylor Swift concerts have been canceled in Austria, as Austrian authorities said on Wednesday that two suspects have been arrested in connection with plans to carry out an alleged attack in the Vienna area.

Swift was scheduled to perform three shows in Vienna between Thursday, August 8, and Saturday, August 10. These dates were canceled on Wednesday, according to Barracuda Music, the company organizing Swift's concerts in Austria.

Barracuda Music said in a social media post: "With government officials confirming a planned terrorist attack at the Ernst Happel Stadium, we have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for the safety of everyone."

CNN has reached out to representatives for Taylor Swift for comment.

The police said at a press conference in the capital that a 19-year-old Austrian citizen, identified as a sympathizer of ISIS, was arrested on Wednesday morning in Ternitz, Austria, while another was arrested later that morning in Vienna.

The police stated: "The two suspects became radicalized online, with a 19-year-old Austrian pledging allegiance to the current ISIS leader at the beginning of July."

The authorities continued, saying that the suspects had taken "concrete preparatory actions" for a terrorist attack after police suspected they were storing explosives in the suspect's home in Ternitz.

The police also reported that chemicals were secured at the home of the 19-year-old and are currently being assessed, according to the Associated Press.

The police added: "From the current perspective of the investigation, we assume that the target of the attack was events in the Vienna area."

The concert organizer stated that all tickets for the canceled shows will be automatically refunded within the next ten working days.

One Toronto resident who traveled to Vienna to see Taylor Swift expressed her sadness and that she is "heartbroken" over the cancellation of the Eras tour concerts in the Austrian capital, but she says she understands the decision.

Ariella Kimmel told CTV News Toronto on Wednesday night: "My heart truly breaks for everyone. Anyone coming to Vienna or anyone in Vienna for this concert came with a full love for Taylor."

"It's devastating to know that this has been canceled and the reason is terrorism."

Kimmel recounted that she and her friends were at a restaurant outside of Vienna when they heard the news. She said that when they returned to their hotel, her friend who bought the tickets received an email confirming the cancellation of the concert and that refunds would be available.

Kimmel added, "They didn't specify the exact reason. They just gave a very broad overview of the circumstances."

She noted that she had previously met Canadians and other Swift fans from around the world who traveled to Vienna for the Eras tour. Kimmel said, "People come from everywhere to see Taylor."

While she was sad that the concert would not happen, the Toronto resident was "grateful" that the organizers were considering everyone's safety.

She said, "I think we will go out tomorrow, and I think it will be a different mood. It’s clear that this is real and extremely important. This is not something to take lightly."

Kimmel and her friend secured tickets for the Vienna shows through a lottery. In addition to seeing her favorite singer, the Toronto resident had another reason for wanting to go to the Austrian capital.

Kimmel said, "Actually, my grandmother is originally from Vienna, so when we got that through the lottery, I really wanted to come here."

"It’s a special connection for me to be able to be in the place where I was born, so we really decided to do it."

Swift has not publicly commented on the cancellation.

The European leg of the Eras tour is set to conclude in London next weekend with five shows at Wembley Stadium. Swift is scheduled to perform in Toronto in November for six sold-out nights at Rogers Centre.
