One of the greatest players in the history of football and sports in general, Lionel Messi, will be in Toronto this year with his team Inter Miami, and it seems that the tickets sold out seconds after being offered.

Messi, the eight-time Best Player in the World award winner, will arrive in the city to face Toronto FC at BMO Field on October 5th.

Ticketmaster launched sales for the upcoming 2024 Toronto FC season on January 31st, and it was clear that the match featuring Messi in Toronto was the most in-demand, as all tickets were sold out in record time.

Fans had only a slim chance to purchase tickets at face value, which fueled a resale market where tickets are now being sold for more than six times the price of other matches in the upcoming season.

As of yesterday afternoon, the cheapest available general admission tickets to see Messi play in Toronto were sold for $267.75, and the cheapest designated seat for the match currently is $357 for a single ticket.

Within hours, seat prices rose to $2000 on Ticketmaster before tickets were resold again before 2:30 PM, while some tickets are being resold on other sites like StubHub for up to $1900.
