Raúl Ruidíaz scored two goals in the first half, and Seattle Sounders won for the first time this season, defeating Montreal 5-0 on Saturday evening.

The Sounders team jumped to the top in the 20th minute when Jackson Ragen used his head to assist Ruidíaz, who made a left-footed shot from the left side of the penalty area into the bottom right corner of the net from a set piece.

The second goal for Ruidíaz and the fourth this season came from a penalty kick in the 27th minute, giving Seattle a 2-0 lead at halftime. The PK was awarded when Albert Rusnák fouled Montreal defender Joel Waterman in the penalty area.

Seattle went ahead by three goals early in the second half when Jordan Morris received a pass from Cristian Roldan in the 48th minute and scored for the first time this season, sending a close-range right-footed shot into the bottom right corner.

Things became more difficult for Montreal after Nathan Saliba received a red card in the 53rd minute, leaving the club a player down until the end of the match.

Alex Roldan and Dylan Teves rounded off the scoring for the Sounders. Roldan used an assist from Rusnák in the 81st minute to score his first goal this season. Teves netted in the seventh minute of stoppage time after coming on for Roldan in the 88th minute. Danny Musovski assisted Teves' first goal this season and the second in his career.

Stefan Fry made two saves to secure his first clean sheet this season with the Sounders, who had scored four goals in their previous five matches to start the season.
