Official media reported today, Wednesday, that at least 11 people have died in a massive fire in a residential building in the Vietnamese capital, Hanoi.
The "VN Express" news portal, citing doctors, reported that more than 50 others, including children, were injured and receiving treatment in various hospitals. However, authorities fear the death toll may rise.
The Vietnamese news agency mentioned the possibility of dozens of victims.
Local authorities stated that about 150 people live in the 10-story building in the Thanh Xuan area of Hanoi, and it is unclear how many people were in the building at the time of the fire.
Media outlets, quoting the police, stated that the fire, which likely broke out on the first floor of the building late last night, Tuesday, for reasons that remain unclear, has been extinguished.
Emergency teams are searching for more victims among the rubble.
