The clinical trials for Gulf Quest 4 (GQCT) are just one step away from achieving their goal of raising 10 million dollars to help fund research at Ottawa Hospital.

The fundraising event took place on June 2. The aim is to raise 10 million dollars over 10 years.

Organizer Greg said that the seventh annual event raised approximately 9.5 million dollars.

He noted that next year they will exceed their goal of 10 million dollars.

He added, "We hope to actually reach that figure next year and be ahead of our expected timeline by two years."

He noted that 200 golfers were accommodated in 27 available halls at the Canadian Golf and Country Club.

He said, "We have a lot of activities happening during the day, such as food stations, craft beer sampling stations, and many competitions. We are fortunate to be able to raise enough money annually to contribute to clinical research."

Moore added that avid golfer Chris Neil was also present at the event this year.

Dr. Sean Aaron, chief scientist and lung specialist at Ottawa Hospital, says the capital hospital is a global leader in practicing medicine while treating patients.

Dr. Aaron said, "We are an intensive research hospital and have trained many doctors and scientists to conduct these studies, and we are actually leading the world."

"This week, we have a trial in the New England Journal of Medicine, which is the best medical journal in the world."

Moore added that despite tickets for this year being sold out, people were able to donate by visiting the Ottawa Hospital website.

He said that if you are interested in reserving a ticket for next year, March is the right time to do so, noting that tickets usually sell out within three weeks.
