U.S. Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris stated on Tuesday that Iran is the primary enemy of the United States and "I reaffirm my commitment to Israel's security."

In an interview with CBS News, when speaking about which of the United States' foes she views as the main adversary, she said: "I think the obvious adversary is Iran."

Kamala Harris had previously affirmed that "Iran is a dangerous and destabilizing force in the Middle East," as she described it.

In a related context, Harris said on Monday, on the first anniversary of the "Al-Aqsa Flood": "I will never forget the horror of October 7, 2023... What Hamas did that day was brutal and disgusting. It has reignited a deep fear among the Jewish people, not only in Israel but also in the United States and around the world."

She emphasized that "we must all ensure that nothing like the horrors of October 7 happens again. I will do everything in my power to ensure the elimination of the threat posed by Hamas, that they are unable to govern Gaza again, and that they fail in their mission to exterminate Israel, while freeing the people of Gaza from Hamas' grip. I will always ensure that Israel has what it needs to defend itself against Iran and Iran-backed terrorists like Hamas," stressing that "my commitment to Israel's security is unwavering."
