The Niagara Regional Police confirmed the arrest of a second person charged in connection with the investigation into the discovery of explosive devices in a home in Niagara Falls.
This occurred on September 4 when investigators said they were called to a home on Beaver Glen Drive, near the intersection of the QEW and Highway 420, after reports of "concerns about the presence of a suspicious device."
When officers arrived at the home, they found "multiple devices of a dangerous nature" inside.
After being moved to another area, investigators stated that they were "identified as explosive devices in varying stages of completion."
The officers did not specify the devices that were found or the nature of the call that led them to the home.
It is also unclear what the intentions behind the devices were.
After a day of officers being called to the home, authorities said a 21-year-old man had been arrested, identified as "Tah Sulaiman," facing charges of making, possessing, and controlling an explosive device, and illegally possessing explosives.
In an update issued Sunday afternoon, investigators said officers executed another search warrant at the home on Saturday while Chatham-Kent police officers executed a search warrant at a home in northern Chatham.
New South Wales Police officers stated that a 26-year-old man, Malek Sulaiman, is charged with making, possessing, and controlling an explosive device, illegally possessing explosives, and two counts of possessing a prohibited device (a stun gun and pepper spray).
Officers stated that the accused is scheduled to have a bail hearing on Sunday.
It is unclear how the two accused are related, and officers did not indicate if any other individuals are being sought in connection with the investigation.
