To counter the advance of the English language in the field of entrepreneurship and business in Quebec, the provincial government intends to impose a French language proficiency requirement on residents, immigrants, and refugees.

Quebec took this measure as part of Bill 96, which is still under review, aimed at strengthening Law 101. However, the minister responsible for the French language, Simon Julien Barret, agreed to a request to amend this law.

In this amendment, it is proposed "that all executives have a good knowledge of the French language."

This law is supported by the member of the "Québec Solidaire" party, Rouba Ghazal, of Palestinian origin.
