Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made an unannounced visit to Ukraine amid the Russian invasion. The Prime Minister's Office says he is scheduled to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to show Canada's support for the country and its people due to the ongoing intense Russian shelling for 3 months.
The office stated that it is possible to increase military support for Ukraine but did not provide details about the types of weapons and how to deliver them into Ukraine amid Russia's threats that external supplies to Ukraine will be a direct target and will be destroyed.
I’m in Ukraine with @cafreeland and @melaniejoly today. We’re here to show our support for Ukraine and its people. Our message to President @ZelenskyyUa and Ukrainians is this: Canada will always stand shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine. More to come on our visit.
